Early Years Practitioners
This innovative course blends 6 hours of practical training with 6 hours of eLearning. It focuses on the emergency scenarios that face professionals looking after young children and infants, including teachers, playgroup leaders, childcare providers, nannies and childminders. It meets the standards of Ofsted/EYFS and HSE requirements.
Day 1: Practical Day
• Roles & Responsibilities of the First Aider
• Assessing an Emergency Situation & Prioritising Action
• Unresponsive Casualty (Not Breathing) – Infant & Child
• Unresponsive Casualty (Breathing) – Infant & Child
• Choking – Infant & Child
• Head Injuries
• Burns, Bleeds & Shock
Day 2: Interactive eLearning
• Bites & Stings
• Suspected Fracture
• Neck & Back Injuries
• Head Injuries (recap)
• Burns & Scalds (recap)
• Minor Injuries
• Electric Shock
• Extreme Temperatures
Learners are continuously assessed by the trainer throughout the course and they must also complete the Final Assessment at the end of the eLearning.
The interactive eLearning is completed online and must be completed before the practical training day.
On completion of the course, learners receive a Full Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for 3 years, which meets OFSTED / EYFS and HSE requirements
First Aid training will be delivered with the following hygiene and course modifications in place.
Only learners feeling well and without COVID-19 symptoms or those who have not been in contact with someone with suspected COVID-19 can attend the course. Learners will be expected to follow social distancing guidance.
The trainer will ensure that all equipment is adequately sanitised prior to and after each course. Learners will be given sanitising wipes to use on the manikin/equipment before and after each use.
Learners are asked to ensure they wash their hands before the course and regularly during the course
Learners should bring and wear their own facemask.
PPE (gloves and mask) to be worn during group activities. As per updated guidance learners will be required to perform rescue breaths on the manikin using a face-shield, the manikin will be thoroughly cleaned after each use
On arrival to the course, the learner will be asked to sign an agreement that they do not have COVID-19 symptoms. Track & Trace: If within two weeks of the course a learner develops COVID-19 symptoms they must notify Early Years Training immediately on 0208 583 2735.
