This session is open to School Governors and Clerks.
The aim is to give an overview of the safeguarding responsibility for children, held by all who work with children and families; and to share with Governors the priorities decided upon locally by Hounslow’s Safeguarding Children Partnership.

A one day course specifically designed for DSLs and Deputy DSLs in schools to meet requirements under Keeping Children Safe in Education 2020.
The course will cover:
Part One - What is safegarding - the legal and guidance context?
The role of the DSL and school leadership
Being the lead/single point of contact with multi-agency partners for individual cases
Recent research into safeguarding outcomes
Part Two - Ensuring a safe system
Whole school systems
Safe recruitment and management
Dealing with allegations against staff and volunteers
Ongoing support for DSLs in their role
You should already have completed a level 1 or 2 Safeguarding/Child Protection Course
