Code: CPD/21/149 First Aid at Work Requalification - 2 Day Course

The 2 day first aid at work requalification training course updates the first aid skills of those who need to renew their First Aid at Work Certificate.

The HSE guidelines are that you must requalify within 28 days of your certificate expiring.

As this is an active session that may require a small amount of physical participation, you are advised to wear appropriate clothing and not be hindered in any way.

Participants must bring a copy of their current certificate on the first day of the course.

Code: CPD/21/224 SEND: Aware Level: To introduce the principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

• Our offer includes a comprehensive introduction to PBS.
• PBS is a government recommended approach to supporting vulnerable people and the Department of Health specifically recommends PBS following the Mid Staffordshire and Winterbourne Review.
• PBS has a strong evidence base for supporting people with intellectual impairment or learning disabilities.
• Our course covers a range of areas that will be useful for your work with people with learning disabilities and/ or autism, including if you are front line staff or a manager
• Its foundation is the use of person-centred approaches to meet the needs of people with a learning disability and/or autism who may be at risk of displaying challenging behaviours
• You will understand it is backed by evidence from behavioural science
• It is important that those of you implementing behaviour support to understand why you do it and the range of strategies available to you
• It will also enable you to adapt your practice with useful strategies for your day to day work based on inclusion, choice, participation and equality of opportunity

Course Content

Children and their families are likely to return or start your provision with mixed feelings about leaving their child with you. This session will help us think together about some of the complexities involved in the settling process and they type of emotionally connected adult- child interactions as well as systems that are most helpful. Providing an insight into some of the behaviours you might observe when children and families are struggling to feel settled, this session promotes trauma informed practice and draws on attachment theory.

The session will be structured around the following questions:
• What do we mean by emotionally connected interactions and why do they help us feel settled?
• Why can emotionally connected interactions feel difficult to put into practice?
• What interaction techniques and systems can we put in place to help us to be more consciously emotionally connected in our approach?

Code: CPD/21/226 Wellbeing for Education Return and Whole School Approach

Wellbeing for Education Return is nationally developed training package for education staff. The project is funded by the Department for Education and Department for Health and Social Care and has been co-developed with Health Education England, Public Health England, and NHS England and Improvement. The
Adults, children and young people alike may have suffered with their mental health and wellbeing during this pandemic. This training will support staff working in schools and colleges to respond to the additional pressures some children, young people and staff may be feeling as a direct result of the pandemic. It will focus on developing whole school wellbeing approaches, the tools to build resilience and understanding the vital components of staff wellbeing at this time.
This train the trainer model of learning will provide delegates with the framework and models to be cascaded throughout schools and colleges.

This session, focussing on wellbeing and whole school approach, is suitable for anyone working in the area of supporting mental health and wellbeing within an educational setting.

There are 8 sessions in total but they have been published separately so you would need to let me know which sessions you would like the links for.  The webinar and resources are available until 31st March 2022.
